Auto Answer and Spam – What You Need to Know

In today’s world of unwanted email and spam laws, it is very important that you learn to use your autoresponder responsibly. Auto Reply to make our lives easier, and marketing is very strong, but if used in a way not intended, which can quickly transform your life into a nightmare! First, never add people to your autoresponder mailing list that should not be there. If you have requested information from you, should be added automatically, and you should have a “double opt-in” approach rather than for them to confirm the information you request. This is to protect you and them. Each autoresponder message should contain a link that the recipient can click that will automatically be removed from the mailing list. Without this link, you are violating the laws against spam, and you risk your site, shut your ISP service, its message and automatic response! There are laws against sending spam. There are also laws to be followed when sending e-mails that were requested. Whatever type of email you send, it is likely that the anti-spam related to you somehow. To be in compliance with the anti-spam laws in various states in the U.S., each commercial email you send should include your name or business name, address, city, state, zip code and telephone number. It should also include instructions that enable the recipient to remove themselves from your mailing list. If you can not do any of this, you are essentially breaking the law in several states – no matter what state or country in which we live! Protect yourself from spam complaints in any way you can. Make sure when you send a client requests any information that you send an e-mail message asking for confirmation before the e-mail. If someone sends a request to you, include a checkbox on the order form requesting permission to send periodic e-mails. Never use your auto responder to send unsolicited commercial e-mail! We all want to create a list of one million people, but must do so responsibly and take time. Not in a hurry and break all the rules and laws in an attempt to build a large list.
