Symantec makes major discoveries in January 2010 where the spam report

January 2010 Symantec Spam Report which was published during the second week of January 2010. A detailed inspection of the methods of spam in the Asia-Pacific region in December 2009 showed that health and product groups of spam has increased, now accounting for 52% of the total volume of spam. The report shows that retail spam and malware-laden season continued in December 2009 and had several spam claims that holiday greeting cards from financial institutions. Several “Freewebs’ services are used by spammers to circumvent filters, stressed Symantec. Some have even used a shortening of URLs to hide the destination URL, while others have used several social networking sites and tools by creating a fake profile, which actually is a spam campaign. Note that Symantec has kept a watchful eye on the spam that apparently came from Amazon in December 2009. In December 2009, the ten main themes lines used by spammers was captured by a mixture of spam and junk mail from Nigerian pharmacies. Spam containing phrases – Please Read, urgent, Replica Watches, Kelly has sent a personal message, 71% discount, etc. Another fact which underlines the report of 2009 December is a change in the region from where the spam message and change the average size of spam. In recent months, Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), together with South America steadily increased their share of spam generation compared with traditional leaders (EMEA and North America). But these two areas (EMEA and North MERICA) together posted 57% of spam in December 2009 against 50% in November 2009. The latest edition of Symantec’s report also says that Symantec researchers see a huge increase in the volume of spam threatens unexceptionally conduct Internet Protocol (IP).
